Within all IT environments, password security is fundamental. However, with the development of dual factor authentication we can now add an additional layer of protection onto our security systems.
This security protocol utilises two unique security factors which are used to confirm a user’s identity before allowing access into an account. The factors may use a secure password, an SMS/email verification code or even facial recognition.
The implementation of this can significantly increase the security of any system. This is particularly relevant now more than ever, following the dawn of the GDPR.
However, the availability of dual factor authentication is dependent on the security system being installed. Unfortunately, many manufacturers have taken a relaxed approach on their responsibilities towards cybersecurity and have not implemented this security functionality.
Fortunately, at WOT we work closely with high end innovative security systems allowing us to provide quality security consultation and implement features such as dual factor authentication within our security installations.
